Description: The Recreational Camp is for younger athletes and athletes who are new to rowing. In this camp athletes will be introduced to the sport of rowing as well as other activities that are run out of the Tampa River Center such as kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and other fun games on the river. Come make friends, get outside, and enjoy the amazing activities our beautiful river has to offer. Camp hours 9am-3pm.

High School Learn To Row Camp

Description: This camp is for older athletes who are new to rowing. In this camp athletes will learn all the basics of rowing and upon completion of 2 week long camps, athletes will be eligible to sign up for Strength & Conditioning Camp, and/or Competitive Camp.

Description: The Competitive camp has in depth technical work on the water. Athletes will also do video review and have discussions with coaches on a variety of topics that will give them the tools to become a more competitive athlete.

Strength & Conditioning Camp

LEVEL 1: 7th - 9th Grade - Focus on safe and effective lifting techniques. For beginners and our younger athletes.

LEVEL 2: 10th - 12th Grade - For athletes that have participated in Varsity Level weight lifting previously.

Description: This camp will include weight lifting, flexibility, core strengthening, and erg/cardio sessions. Great way to take a break from rowing and get ready for next season!

Description: Camp runs concurrently with Competitive Camp and Strength & Conditioning Camp and includes all of those sessions in a single 4 week camp. Please do not register for both camps, only choose this camp if you plan to race at Halifax Regatta in Daytona Beach on Sat 7/26. Camp fees cover race entry fees, athletes/families are responsible for transport to the race.

Junior Camp Counselor
Every year we look for rowers in the community who are interested in helping with out summer camps. This volunteer opportunity gives athletes the chance to earn volunteer hours as well as earn valuable experience in coaching and working with younger athletes. Junior Counselors are expected to help ensure that camps run smoothly by setting up camp and engaging with the young athletes in the Recreation camp. Junior Counselors must be rising sophomores and have had at least one year of competitive rowing. To apply to be a Junior Counselor please fill out this form and turn it into the Tampa River Center boathouse office or email it to victoria.mattie@tampagov.net.
