2024 Summer registration dates have been confirmed and are the following:

 

  • After School Priority Registration will open on Monday 4/15/2024 at 6pm

  • Specialty Camps will open on Monday 4/15/2024 at 6pm

  • REC/Traditional Camps will open for Residents on Monday 4/22/2024 at 6pm

Recreational Day Camp - City Of Tampa Parks & Rec

  • Time

    • 9am - 3:30pm

    • Early drop off and late pickup is available from 7:30a - 5pm

  • Age: 10 to 13 years old

  • Experience Required: No Experience Necessary!

  • Description: The Recreational Camp is for younger athletes and athletes who are new to rowing. In this camp athletes will be introduced to the sport of rowing as well as other activities that are run out of the Tampa River Center such as kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and other fun games on the river. Come make friends, get outside, and enjoy the amazing activities our beautiful river has to offer. Camp hours 9am-3:30pm.

High School Learn To Row Camp

  • Time: 7am - 9:30am

  • Age: 8th – 12th Grade

  • Experience Required: No Experience Necessary!

  • Description: This camp is for older athletes who are new to rowing.  In this camp athletes will learn all the basics of rowing and upon completion of 2 week long camps, athletes will be eligible to sign up for Rookie Sculling Camp, Cross Training Camp, and/or Competitive Camp.

Rookie Sculling Camp

  • Time: 7am - 9:30am

  • Age: 7th – 12th Grade

  • Experience Required: Participated in one of the following…

    • Previous Middle School Rowing

    • Previous High School Rowing

    • At least 2 weeks of High School Learn To Row

  • Description: This camp is for athletes with previous rowing experience looking to improve their technical ability in sculling boats.

Competitive Camp (not racing Halifax Regatta)

  • Time: 7am - 9:30am

  • Age: 7th – 12th Grade

  • Experience Required: Participated in one of the following…

    • Fall or Spring Rookie Middle School

    • Previous High School Rowing

    • At least 2 weeks of High School Learn To Row or Rookie

  • Description: The Competitive camp has in depth technical work on the water. Athletes will also do video review and have discussions with coaches on a variety of topics that will give them the tools to become a more competitive athlete.

Cross Training/Weight Camp

  • Time: 10am - 12pm

  • Age: 8th – 12th Grade

  • Experience Required: Participated in one of the following…

    • Previous Middle School Rowing

    • Previous High School Rowing

    • At least 2 week of High School Learn To Row, Rookie or Comp Camp

  • Description: This camp will include weight lifting, flexibility, core strengthing, and erg/cardio sessions.  Great way to take a break from rowing and get ready for next season!

Halifax Regatta Racing Camp

  • Time: 7am - 12pm

  • Age: 8th – 12th Grade

  • Experience Required: Participated in one of the following…

    • Fall or Spring Rookie Middle School

    • Previous High School Rowing

    • At least 2 weeks of High School Learn To Row or Rookie

  • Description: Camp runs concurrently with Competitive Camp and Cross Training Camp and includes all of those sessions in a single 4 week camp. Please do not register for both camps, only choose this camp if you plan to race at Halifax Regatta in Daytona Beach on 7/27.

Junior Camp Counselor

Every year we look for rowers in the community who are interested in helping with out summer camps. This volunteer opportunity gives athletes the chance to earn volunteer hours as well as earn valuable experience in coaching and working with younger athletes. Junior Counselors are expected to help ensure that camps run smoothly by setting up camp and engaging with the young athletes in the Recreation camp. Junior Counselors must be rising sophomores and have had at least one year of competitive rowing. To apply to be a Junior Counselor please fill out this form and turn it into the Tampa River Center boathouse office or email it to victoria.mattie@tampagov.net.
