Recreation Summer Camp Registration

Summer 2024 will open Spring 2024!

2024 Summer registration dates have been confirmed and are the following:

 

  • After School Priority Registration will open on Monday 4/15/2024 at 6pm

  • Specialty Camps will open on Monday 4/15/2024 at 6pm

  • REC/Traditional Camps will open for Residents on Monday 4/22/2024 at 6pm

Team Tampa is excited to offer summer camp experiences for every level! The Recreational Camp is for those who are excited to experience a new sport and all of the activities the Tampa River Center has to offer. The Competitive Camp is here for those who are interested in taking their rowing to the next level. The High Performance Camp will be for those athletes who would like to raise and perfect their athletic ability as a youth rower. Come join us and make this summer the best one yet!

The Recreation camp is for younger athletes and athletes who are new to the sport of rowing. In this camp athletes will be introduced to the sport of rowing as well as other activities that are run out of the Tampa River Center such as kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and other fun games on the river. Come make friends, get outside, and enjoy the amazing activities our beautiful river has to offer. Camp hours 9am-3:30pm. Recreation Camp registration is open! Click Here to sign up!

If you will be in 8th - 12th Grade next fall and would like to learn to row, but the camp above is full, please register for the "Competitive Camp" below and reach out to Coach Victoria to let her know you are a beginner.

The Competitive camp is for athletes who will be going into their 8th grade year and also for any athlete who is going to be in high school. We also require that all athletes in attendance have had at least one season of experience rowing before attending this camp. The Competitive camp has in depth technical work on the water and endurance building workouts on land. Athletes will also be going over video review and have discussions with coaches on a variety of topics that will give them the tools to become a more competitive athlete. The high performance rowing camp is for athletes who are ready to take the next step in their rowing careers. Athletes must be going into their tenth grade year and have had at least one full season of rowing and racing experience at the youth level. This camp is for those who want to take their technique and physical endurance to the next stage. The high performance camp will also be racing twice over the summer to help cement the skills and physicality that rowers will gain from camp. Athletes will also be going over video review and have discussions with coaches on a variety of topics that will give them the tools to take their rowing to the next level. Junior Camp Counselor

Every year we look for rowers in the community who are interested in helping with out summer camps. This volunteer opportunity gives athletes the chance to earn volunteer hours as well as earn valuable experience in coaching and working with younger athletes. Junior Counselors are expected to help ensure that camps run smoothly by setting up camp and engaging with the young athletes in the Recreation camp. Junior Counselors must be rising sophomores and have had at least one year of competitive rowing. To apply to be a Junior Counselor please fill out this form and turn it into the Tampa River Center boathouse office or email it to victoria.mattie@tampagov.net.
